WHAT HAPPENS AT THE SCENE?

Studies divulge that an estimated 4-5% of the US population struggle with compulsive hoarding behaviors of some kind. 360 Hazardous Cleanup works tactfully with families and friends of those who are unable to manage their property due to physical or mental limitations. Oftentimes, people do not recognize the health and safety hazards associated with cleanups that involve hoarding/filth in connection with biohazards.

Hoarding can range from very minor to very severe. Extreme hoarding situations are those where a person or persons collect an over-abundance of items or trash. Be it trash, food, newspapers, animals, etc., it has gotten to the point where hallways and bathrooms have been blocked off and are no longer accessible; beds, tables, and other furniture have been buried under trash or other debris. In addition to moving large quantities of personal items, these hoarding situations are often intensified by filth, unknown bacteria growth, mold, and human or animal feces or remains that can be uncovered in the process of cleaning these situations.

It is crucial to consult with a specialized biohazard company that has experience handling hoarding cleanups. The hoarding situation is definitely a major concern, but another factor that is often overlooked in these situations is the emotional and mental struggle with the individual occupying the residence. 360 Hazardous has managed countless situations involving hoarding and filth cleanups, allowing us to work very discreetly to remedy any situation. To the untrained eye, there is no hope for these situations. But to us, there is always hope.

WHY HIRE A HOARDING CLEANING COMPANY?

We realize that opening your house to a hoarding cleanup company is a huge step.  Even if the hoarder is not cured, it’s a very big step on the road to recovery. So, it is important that you are comfortable with our crews and our company so that we can work together to help you get things back in order. Our crews are very understanding and empathetic to all extreme hoarding situations. Unlike many other hoarding removal companies, For over 35 years, 360 Hazardous has assisted many families and friends with hoarding cleanups, and tailor each project’s scope of work to every situation. We are always willing to offer advice based on our experience, but we realize this is most often a tough process to go through and we want to make it as easy as possible for everyone involved.

Hoarded items and clutter can increase the risk of fires, mold growth, tripping hazards, and other disastrous possibilities that only a property restoration company is trained to handle. At 360, our expert teams of professionals follow strict guidelines by OSHA and state and federal recommendations for the removal and disposal of biohazardous materials at the cleanup site. We are also equipped with the proper protective equipment (PPE), suits, and respiratory protection during these cleanups to avoid exposure to possible biohazards such as hazardous forms of mold, Hantavirus, Histoplasmosis, Staph bacteria including MRSA (Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus), E. coli and other superbugs (bacteria & viruses) just to name a few.

WHAT IS HOARDING CLEANUP?

Compulsive hoarding, or a hoarding disorder, is a complex mental condition that causes affected individuals to experience fear and anxiety when they are faced with getting rid of personal belongings. This is true whether the items in question are valuable or not. The dangers associated with hoarding are evident, and it is important that individuals affected by hoarding tendencies understand the implications of their bad habits.

There are other obvious threats to the homeowner and occupants in the home, the first primary danger is that of a fire. This is because they are more likely to occur, but will also be more intense considering that the hoarded items will act as fuel for the flames. Tipping hazards are another concern, as individuals die every year by becoming trapped under fallen items. Lastly, the health of residents can be affected when allergens, bacteria, mold, garbage, animal waste, and other unwanted biohazard elements gather beneath and within hoarded items.

Biohazards are defined by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control as infectious agents or hazardous biologic materials that present a risk or potential risk to the health of humans, animals, or the environment. Whenever blood, bodily fluids, animal matter, or other types of biological waste are involved, there is the possibility of exposure to dangerous pathogens. With plenty of places to hide and grow, serious toxins and diseases such as E.coli, staph/MRSA bacteria, and Hantavirus can all thrive in the home of a hoarder.

Common Questions

——————————

When you are asking yourself “What Now”

How soon can you get here?

Our customer care team is able to immediately dispatch and respond to your service request. Our teams arrive at your location typically in a matter of hours, not days to assess the situation. We are able to start the cleanup on the day of the assessment if the premises are ready. 360 Hazardous Cleanup is here for you 24/7/365 if you need assistance with any cleanup service.

Who pays for trauma cleanup?

Unfortunately, trauma scene cleanup is the responsibility of the property owner. In most cases, homeowners insurance policies will cover the cost of remediation services. However, this is not guaranteed. You need to check with your insurance adjuster to be certain. It’s important to note that insurance companies cannot dictate who you use. We do have experience working directly with insurance companies for our services and can help you with the process.

Should I try and clean the area myself?

It is not recommended to try and clean the scene yourself. There is a great deal of state and federal mandates that govern the bio-hazard cleanup industry. State and Federal mandates have been established regulating the collection, handling, and disposal of human bio-hazardous waste. Individuals and companies can face serious penalties for not adhering to these regulations. Personnel conducting hazardous collection and disposal are required to follow specific training and medical mandates set by state and federal agencies.

We are very sensitive to the emotional needs and privacy of our customers. We work in a professional and discreet manner. Upon your request, we can arrive at the scene in an unmarked vehicle and be as discreet as needed. We understand your situation, and we will do everything we can to accommodate you.

Do I have to be present while you team is working?

No. As long as we have access to the property, if you choose not to be on-site during our cleaning process, we completely understand. If possible, we do prefer to conduct a final walk through when the work is completed to ensure customer satisfaction. Whether you’d like to monitor our work, or only visit once the job is complete, our team will treat your home with the same respect as if it was their own.
